One year passed since the most promising Belarusian Heavy Metal formation called Staya declared its break-up and 4 out of 5 of its members founded Aillion, another melodic metal project. Inheriting most of Staya’s fame the band also promised to pay off their debts as the fans had longed for new material since 2005 when Staya released its first (and the last for now) hit album Land Of Ice. The fans could see (as well as hear) the first fruits of the new band only this March. No, it wasn’t a new album, unfortunately, but an internet single which consisted of 4 songs that were supposed to arouse the public’s appetite concerning the future album. Aillion offered its fans 2 brand new and 2 old songs. The opener and the title track Undefeated By Fate vividly shows that the band has decided to stay within once chosen Heavy Metal frames. The only shift can be observed in the text which reveals the Power Metalish side of the band. Signs Of The Silence uncovers Aillion’s desire to move forward being its very first Progressive Metal song with a complex composition and “incomprehensible” lyrics. 2 already known songs are huge Staya-period hits – lyrical ballad Don’t Forget About My Grief and the fan-favourite Jump Into The Void. Slightly rearranged they still leave the same overall impression as their ’05 originals. So, we can probably say that the public's appetite has been eventually stirred up by this material, and the fans are obviously longing for more. Only the future can tell whether Aillion will be able to feed the hungry Belarusian MetalHeads and surpass Staya’s glory or not. Anyway, we’ll have to live to see. |
